I am trying to upload data using the workbench. When I map out my taxa to genus and species, sometimes it uploads it correctly to the taxon tree that I have configured, but sometimes it creates a completely new taxon called ‘Uploaded’ with the genus and species name that I have given it. Can you provide guidance as to why this is happening? I have checked spelling and extra spaces within the excel file, which do not seem to be the issue.

This issue is likely due to a lack of parent ranks in your workbench upload, which can be fixed by adding in columns for the parent ranks of genus and species. You can find the proper documentation for this here.
Additionally, using the “must match” mapping preference within the Data Mapper can help prevent duplicating Taxon entries. You also might consider checking the Results tab to verify how many Taxon entries are being created before your final upload.
